Chris Wood, Leicester City
The Loan Ranger...(Pun intended unfortunately)
Born in the land of Lord of the Rings, this New Zealandish...no that's not a word...New Zealand (surely that's not right?) footballer has made it far to be one of the stars of England's second football division. He first came to England when he was signed by West Bromwich Albion, but at the age of 21 he has already led a journeyman-ish career.
Chris Wood however is a special footballer. Standing fairly tall at 191 centimetres and with some other good qualities as a footballer he came to prominence, and the attention of the Vobley writers during his loan spell at Birmingham City. Having previously disappointed or been fairly average at West Brom and on loan to Barnsley and Brighton he lit up Brum's 2011 campaign. Conquering Europe (2 Europa League goals) and scoring 11 goals in the first half of the season he was on his way to stardom (in the other half he scored 3). A year later after impressing at Millwall he earned a million pound move to Leicester City.
Wood is poised to be one of the best strikers New Zealand has ever had, and that's not saying much. It is for his mediocre yet sometimes fantastic scoring record that Chris Wood is one the Vobley's cherished beings. No one else quite captures this quality.

- He will become the next Rickie Lambert in the next 5 or so years but much to Jack Wilshere's liking, he won't play for England
- He owns a sheep farm in New Zealand
- "He may be dead"
- Flight of the Conchords is favourite band
- While at West Brom he may have been overcome by Inner City Pressure
