Yes, it’s that most frustrating of times; when the football on TV
is different countries playing each other instead of different companies- but not in that exciting tournament way. So let’s look at a few fun things to take us through this period. How are the Cherished Beings Doing? Chris Wood - In the New Zealand squad to face the might of China and Thailand. Will be hoping to make up for his bad miss on the weekend for Leicester by becoming New Zealand’s clear cut 9th highest ever scorer (which he is currently tied for). Riveting! New Zealand Rocks!!! (Maybe we should add another exclamation mark?) Djamel Mesbah - The AC Milan legend is getting ready to help his team qualify for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations. Which will be taking place in… erm, okay this is a mess. In excellent news, his team will be taking on Mali… Bakaye Traore - …for whom another AC Milan legend is in the squad. The mouth waters at the theoretical prospect of these two clashing. Matty Taylor - Expect to see him turn out for a few dozen nations this weekend, and put in a ruddy good shift. Shane Ferguson - The glaring indictment on the state of Northern Irish football is surprisingly left out of the latest squad. Perhaps replaced by a reserve of another team. But he appeared in their impressive wins in the last international break. So expect to see him in a Newcastle Reserve team soon. Stephen Hunt - The multi purpose Irishman is not in the Republic of Ireland squad. Should he be? I don’t know. Is he still around? He’s playing under Mick McCarthy, which makes sense. Is he still any good? Was he ever? Did you know his brother is Noel Hunt? Somen Tchoyi - We end with Somen “Snowman” Tchoyi “Story”, who has been a free agent for so long he must now be classed as just unemployed. The former Cameroon international will not be appearing on a screen near you. God speed Somen.
